Chances to chip in for Wesmen golf tourney

The Winnipeg Wesmen annual fundraising golf tournament is a little more than a month away and you still have a chance to get in the game.

The ninth annual Wesmen Athletics Scholarship Golf Tournament, which will go Thursday, June 28 at Rossmere Golf and Country Club provides a key tool for helping the U of W athletics department provide financial assistance to its student-athletes by way of the Wesmen Athletic Scholarship Fund. Wesmen Athletics pays the university approximately $150,000 each year to help cover tuition for Wesmen student-athletes and all of that is raised through fundraisers such as the golf tournament.

Registration remains open to play in the tournament and attractive sponsorship opportunities are also available.

A number of affordable options are available for individuals or groups. A single golfer can register for $199 plus GST and will receive 18 holes, a cart, buffet dinner, gifts and special contests that include a 50/50 draw, raffles and auctions. A group of four can register for $796 plus GST. You can also attend the dinner only for $50.

Inquiries for sponsorships can be made by contacting Tom Nicholson at

The Texas Scramble will tee off with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.

Once again we will be at the beautiful Rossmere Country club with a 10 a.m. tee-off and a 9 a.m. on-course registration and light breakfast.  We are still promising good weather, good fun (especially if you bring fun friends with you) and a day on the golf course raising money for a great cause and having the chance to acquire some great prizes.

The tournament is a chance to interact with Wesmen athletes and win some great prizes while enjoying a day on the beautiful, sprawling 6,400-yard Rossmere course.

Save the date and help Wesmen student-athletes realize their athletic and academic dreams.
