UWinnipeg Wesmen Athletics are pushing forward with their summer tradition.

After COVID-19 restrictions forced the postponement of our annual golf tournament — originally slated for June 25 — Wesmen Athletics is pleased to announce the scholarship fundraiser will take place Aug. 27 at Rossmere Golf and Country Club.

The event is a major contributor to help our student-athletes achieve their goals in competition and in the classroom.

The 11th annual tournament will go forward with social distancing guidelines, sanitization protocols and health and safety standards being followed to ensure a fun and safe experience for all.

The fundraising tournament is a key tool for helping the U of W athletics department provide financial assistance to its student-athletes by way of the Wesmen Athletic Scholarship Fund. Wesmen Athletics pays the university approximately $150,000 each year to help cover tuition for Wesmen student-athletes and all of that is raised through fundraisers such as the golf tournament.

Registration remains open to play in the tournament and attractive sponsorship opportunities are also available. A single golfer can register for $219 plus tax and will receive 18 holes, a cart, breakfast, food stations at holes, gifts and special contests that include a 50/50 draw, raffles, and auctions. A group of four can register for $876 plus tax.

Inquiries for sponsorships can be made by contacting Tom Nicholson at t.nicholson@uwinnipeg.ca or Dave Crook at d.crook@uwinnipeg.ca.

The Texas Scramble will tee off with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.

We recognize the past few months have been challenging for everyone, and we think our tournament will be a chance to reunite and celebrate our community of student-athletes and supporters like you.
