WESMEN PLAY SOLID GAME TO OUTLAST BOBCATS
The team that won the Wesmen Classic a few weeks ago once again made an appearance. The Wesmen men’s basketball team played a solid game to defeat the Brandon Bobcats 82-69 in front of 1200 spectators at the Duckworth Centre Saturday evening. The team played great both on offence and on defense as they played with the same inspired and determined play that helped the team capture the Wesmen Classic last month. The game was tight in the first half as both teams were feeling each other out and not letting the other team get too many easy baskets. The Wesmen led at halftime 36-33. Guard Erfan Nasajpour was on fire in the first half as he scored 17 points in the half to pace the Wesmen. In the second half the Wesmen shooters came to life as they shot 65% from the field. As in the Wesmen Classic Ryan Roper sank a pair of three pointers late in the game to give the Wesmen the well-earned victory. Erfan Nasajpour led the Wesmen with 32 points and also collected 11 rebounds. Dido Bunema was the leading scorer for the Bobcats with 19 points. The Wesmen now have a record of 3-8 and remain in the playoff hunt in their division. The team will next see action next Friday as they travel to Simon Fraser to battle the Clan.
