BISONS TOO MUCH FOR WESMEN The Manitoba Bisons managed to salvage a tie for their school in the Duckworth Challenge by knocking off the Winnipeg Wesmen 3-1 in Canada West Men's Volleyball action at the Duckworth Centre. The annual four-game series between the two Winnipeg based university's basketball and volleyball teams ends in a 2-2 draw. The Wesmen had a tough time penetrating the two-man Bison barricade of 6'10" 5th year middle hitter Peter Turpin, and 6'10" 4th year right side hitter Tim Cooper as Manitoba picked up its 10th straight match win. The Winnipeg attack was led by 2nd year outside hitter Dave Bishop's 13 kills and 4th year middle hitter Cam Dobie's 11 kills. 4th year libero Shawn Scarcello was tops in digs for both teams with 14. Cooper had 20 kills and Turpin added 10 for the Bisons. Bishop and Cooper were named Duckworth Challenge players of the game. No. 7 Winnipeg's Canada West record drops to 6-10, while No. 2 Manitoba notched win number 17 to go with only one loss.
