UBC def Wesmen 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 29-27)
The UBC Thunderbirds earned a weekend split with the Wesmen by knocking off Winnipeg 3-1 in Canada West Men's Volleyball action at the Duckworth Centre Saturday night. The No. 10 ranked Thunderbirds had a little more jump in their game than in Friday's contest and after spotting No. 8 Winnipeg a one set lead, turned things, winning the next three. 5th year power hitter Danny Long's roll shot found some open space on the Wesmen side of the court to give UBC a hard fought 29-27 win in fourth set, and the match victory. Long had 11 kills and 6 digs while 4th year opposite hitter Steve Corothers picked up 17 kills and 9 digs to lead the T-Birds. Stephen Ens led the Winnipeg attack with 17 kills and 7 digs while Cam Dobie chipped in with 10 kills. UBC improves to 3-11 in Canada West, while the Wesmen drop to 4-8.
