THUNDER BAY, Ont. — Mikayla Funk had her biggest game in a Wesmen uniform Sunday in a non-conference loss to the Memorial Seahawks.

Funk, a sophomore post, had 21 points and 17 rebounds — both career-highs — as the Wesmen dropped a 98-94 overtime decision to MUN at the Lakehead tournament Sunday morning.

A day earlier, Funk had what was then a career-high 10 points in a loss against Lakehead, but Sunday she got a career-high 35 minutes of playing time and went 7-for-12 from the field and 8-for-12 from the free-throw line. Funk grabbed seven offensive boards and also had two blocks.

Freshman Anna Kernaghan also had career-highs with 22 points and nine rebounds for the Wesmen, who played without fifth-year senior Faith Hezekiah

Robyn Boulanger added 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists and Lena Wenke chipped in 12.

The Wesmen trailed by as many as 17 in the second quarter and were down 49-37 at the half, but got back into the game thanks to a 28-15 third quarter.

The Wesmen finished their non-conference season 6-2 and not back in action until Nov. 1-2 when they host their Canada West conference openers against the Fraser Valley Cascades.
