WESMEN PIZZA PLACE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
The Wesmen Pizza Place Male and Female Players of the Week have been announced, the winners are:
Aynsley Laluk, women’s volleyball- Aynsley this past weekend at the BOB FM Volleyball Challenge was named the tournament MVP. Aynsley averaged over ten kills per match and was dominant all weekend in helping lead the Wesmen to the gold medal.
Jarrod Small, men’s volleyball- Jarrod had a great weekend in helping his team prepare for the upcoming season in a pair of exhibition matches. Jarrod had a total of 19 kills to help his team split the weekend matches.
GENERAL WESMEN NEWS
The annual Converse Shootout Women’s Basketball tournament will be taking place this weekend at the Duckworth Centre. The host Wesmen will be challenging universities from Manitoba, Ottawa, and Lakehead. The schedule is as follows:

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
The Wesmen had a great weekend winning the gold medal in the BOB FM Volleyball Challenge. The team went undefeated in the tournament and only lost two sets all weekend. Aynsley Laluk was named the MVP of the tournament, while Kristin Brisebois and Andrea Charbonneau were named to the tournament all-star team. The team will next see action later this month as they travel to Fargo, North Dakota for the NDSU Volleyball Tournament on October 15-16th..
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Wesmen Men’s coach Larry McKay was finally able to see his team in real game action. The team took on the Great Plains and River City All-Star teams in a pair of exhibition matches as part of the BOB FM Volleyball Challenge. On Friday night the Wesmen put up a great battle in a five set loss to the Great Plains All-Stars. The Wesmen did get revenge on Saturday as they defeated the River City All-Stars in five tough sets. The team will head to Regina this weekend to take on university teams from Guelph, Waterloo, Manitoba and McMaster.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The 2004-2005 Wesmen team put on a show last week as they defeated the Wesmen Alumni team 67-54. JoAnne Wells led the Wesmen scoring 26 points in the game. The team is busy practicing for this weekends Converse Shootout Tournament against teams from Ottawa, Manitoba, and Lakehead universities.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Coach Dave Crook saw some good things from his team as they defeated the Wesmen Alumni 88-64 in the annual Alumni Game. Guard Erfan Nasajpour led the way for the Wesmen by scoring 21 points in the game. The team will be busy practicing this week as they travel next week to Waterloo, Ontario to participate in the Wilfred Laurier Invitational Tournament.
