WESMEN PIZZA PLACE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
The Wesmen Pizza Place Male and Female Players of the Week are:

Jarrod Small, men’s volleyball - Jarrod helped the Wesmen split a pair of weekend matches against the University of Manitoba Bison’s. Jarrod had 18 kills in the two matches and also came up with timely digs to help the Wesmen earn a split in the series.

Andrea Charbonneau, women’s volleyball - Andrea had 27 kills and 18 digs in helping the Wesmen defeat the Bison’s in a pair of matches this past weekend.

GENERAL WESMEN NEWS
Just a reminder the University of Winnipeg Wesmen will be presenting a pair of “ Uniform Give-Away Night’s". On Wednesday November 10th it is the basketball uniform giveaway night as the Wesmen face the University of Manitoba Bisons. And on Friday November 12th it is the volleyball uniform giveaway night as the Wesmen battle Trinity Western University. One lucky team will win a set of uniforms. Free admission is available by advance reservation only. The “Dare to Dream” Breakfast Celebrating Women in Sport will be taking place on Tuesday, December 7th, 2004 from 7:15 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. at the Radisson Hotel Winnipeg Downtown 288 Portage Avenue. Tickets are $35.00 with proceeds benefiting the Women’s Basketball and Volleyball Teams Athletic Scholarship Fund. For tickets please call 786-9349.

The International Basketball Classic will be taking place at the Duckworth Centre on December 17 - December 19th, 2004. This tournament is open to all grades 6-12 club teams across Canada and the United States. WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The Wesmen opened up the 2004-2005 Canada West regular season by defeating the University of Regina Cougars in two straight games. On Friday night the Wesmen thrashed the Cougars 64-34 with Uzo Asagwara leading the way with 16 points in the victory. On Saturday night it was the “JoAnne Wells Show” as the fifth year forward poured in 27 points to lead the Wesmen to a 72-47 thumping over the Cougars. The team will take on their cross town rivals the University of Manitoba Bison’s in a pair of games starting Wednesday Nov 10th at the Duckworth Centre and then heading across town to the University of Manitoba on Friday evening.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
The Men’s team will open up the 2004-2005 Canada West regular season at home on Wednesday Nov 10th as they battle their rivals from the University of Manitoba. The Wesmen have had a great pre-season and they are primed and ready for the season to begin.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
T
he Wesmen women’s volleyball team traveled across town to face the University of Manitoba Bison’s and came away with two straight victories. On Friday the Wesmen beat the Bison’s 3-0 (25-21,25-14,25-15). Jocelyne Roy led the team with 12 kills and 17 digs while Kristin Brisebois contributed 11 kills to the victory. On Saturday the team went for the sweep and got it as they defeated the Bison’s 3-1(25-27,25-22,25-18,26-24). Fifth year player Andrea Charbonneau led the Wesmen attack with 21 kills and 10 digs. The weekend sweep gives the Wesmen a record of 2-2 in the Canada West standings. The team will make their regular season home debut on Friday and Saturday as the face Trinity Western University.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
The Wesmen opened up their 2004-2005 Canada West regular season at the University of Manitoba this past weekend. The team played hard and came away with a split in the weekend series. On Friday the Wesmen beat the Bison’s 3-2 (25-22,25-19,19-25,15-25,18-16). Ben Schellenberg had a team high 14 kills and Marc De Spiegelaere had 12 digs in the victory. On Saturday the Wesmen were looking for the series sweep but the Bison’s came away with a 3-1 victory (23-25,25-23,19-25,20-25). Second year player Ben Schellenberg had a team high 18 kills in the defeat. The Wesmen now have a record of 1-1 and will face Trinity Western University at the Duckworth Centre on Friday and Saturday.
